AutoBacklinks vs Linkee AI (2026): Where Automation Stops

by Rachid Idali

Last Updated: August 24, 2026

AutoBacklinks and Linkee make the same promise.

Linkee calls itself the "#1 AI Backlink Automation Software." AutoBacklinks calls itself the first AI agent for link building outreach. Same category, same pitch: software does the outreach so you do not have to.

So the comparison comes down to one question: where does the automation actually stop?

I went through Linkee's live pages, its archived help center, its pricing history, and its public reviews to answer it. The short version: Linkee automates individual steps inside a workflow you still drive, and it stops at the send. AutoBacklinks runs the pipeline end to end, then keeps working after the send: warmup, reply analysis, negotiation prep.

Here is the full breakdown, built from both tools' own pages.

Linkee ships tools you operate. AutoBacklinks ships the operator.

Is Linkee AI really automated? A toolkit you drive vs an agent

Linkee's homepage makes a big claim:

"100% Automated Email Outreach ... we automate the entire link building process." (linkee.ai homepage, August 2026)

Its own blog, though, lays the workflow out in five stages:

  1. Finding prospects
  2. Vetting the prospect list
  3. Getting contacts
  4. Conducting outreach
  5. Outreach analytics

Now count who runs each stage. You do. The homepage itself says the quiet part:

"Quickly review the already curated list of prospects for manual verification."

There is real automation inside each step. But you are the operator moving work from stage to stage: create the campaign, review the scored list, pick the contacts, pick the template, press go.

And a campaign runs once. There is no recurring or scheduled campaign anywhere in the product or its documentation. Next month's prospects mean next month's setup, done by you.

Linkee homepage
Linkee frames itself around finding, qualifying, and reaching prospects automatically (linkee.ai).

One note before I go further: AutoBacklinks is our product, so weigh my conclusions accordingly. Every Linkee claim in this piece comes from its own pages, its archived help center, or dated public reviews. And I will be specific about the things Linkee includes that we do not.

The AutoBacklinks agent works like a colleague you brief:

  • You describe the goal in a wizard. It takes about two minutes.
  • The agent proposes keywords, runs discovery across its sources, applies your SEO filters, looks up verified contacts, and drafts the outreach.
  • It stops where you want approval. Or it sends automatically, paced to your mailbox.
  • Campaigns can recur weekly, biweekly, or monthly, repeating the whole pipeline on their own.

One real campaign: 359 prospects found, 302 past SEO filter, 115 sequenced.

Linkee pricing: plans, credits, and the rates you cannot look up

Linkee sells three plans:

  • Essential: $97/mo, or $80.83/mo billed yearly. 10,000 credits, 1 project.
  • Pro: $197/mo, or $164.17/mo billed yearly. 25,000 credits, still 1 project.
  • Agency: $358/mo, or $298.33/mo billed yearly. 60,000 credits, unlimited projects.

The pricing page defaults to the yearly toggle, so the numbers you see first are the annual ones.

Linkee pricing plans
Linkee's plans on the default yearly toggle (linkee.ai).

Three things on that page deserve a closer look.

1. Pro doubles the price, not the product. Essential includes one project. Pro, at twice the price, also includes one project. The extra $100/mo buys credits, mailboxes, a CRM, and an onboarding session, not a second website. Unlimited projects arrive only at Agency, $358/mo. For scale: AutoBacklinks covers 2 websites at $79, 5 at $179, and 25 at $399.

2. The page disagrees with itself. How many mailboxes does Essential include? Depends where you look:

  • The plan card says 3.
  • The comparison table on the same page says 2.
  • The FAQ on the same page says 1.

The billing toggle says "Save 20%," an older block on the same page says 15%, and the actual arithmetic is two months free, 16.7%. Small things. But this is the page where you pick a number and pay it.

3. You cannot look up what anything costs in credits. The pricing FAQ says credits are used to find prospects, find and verify emails, and check SEO metrics. It never says how many credits each action takes. There is no rate table anywhere on the site or in its archived help center.

The only per-action numbers I could find are the founder's answers on Linkee's AppSumo listing:

  • 5 credits per prospect from the Linkee database
  • 2 credits per row for your own CSV imports
  • Credits for each initial email; follow-ups are free
  • Unused credits refunded when prospects cannot be delivered

Those answers exist because a buyer audited the gap. In an October 2025 AppSumo review, one customer reported:

  • Being charged for 1,000 prospects when 909 were delivered
  • A dashboard showing 9,998 credits used while the detailed history summed to 3,793
  • A sales-page figure of 2 credits per prospect, while the product charged 5

The founder's reply confirmed the 5-credit rate for database prospects; 2 credits is the CSV rate.

Credit where due: he answered publicly and specifically. Still, a metered product that does not publish its meter's rates is a product you price by trust.

Two more pricing facts worth knowing before you commit:

  • In early 2025, Linkee had a free-forever plan and a $25/mo Basic tier. Both were removed in a spring 2025 repricing. In 2025 it also ran an AppSumo lifetime deal at $69 to $279, now sold out.
  • Its terms, last revised September 2023, state that all fees are nonrefundable and that you cancel by emailing support. The pricing FAQ says you can change plans yourself.

Now the genuinely good part: the trial. Linkee's own FAQ:

"The free trial gives you 500 credits for 14 days ... You can access your account immediately, as no credit card is required."

That is a more open trial than ours, and it means you can check everything in this article against the product itself before paying anything.

Linkee's prospect database: 12 million sites, 5 million, or 100,000?

How big is the database you are searching? Depends which sentence you read:

  • The homepage says "database of 12 million websites", in two places.
  • The same homepage says "database of 5M+ websites" in a third.
  • The find-prospects page says 5 million.
  • The archived help center said just over 100,000 blogs, plus data from integrations.

Some of that is surely old copy left standing. But the spread is the point: the site does not tell you, consistently, what you are searching.

The mechanics beyond the database are solid:

  • Bulk prospect pulls straight from Google searches
  • CSV imports from Ahrefs or Semrush exports, at the cheaper 2-credit rate
  • Competitor backlink campaigns
  • Deduplication against your previous outreach

Campaign types cover guest posting, link insertions, competitor backlinks, and an outreach-only mode for lists you already have. One limit the founder stated plainly on AppSumo: the tool works best with English-language websites.

What is not there: resource-page prospecting, directory prospecting, and review-blogger prospecting do not appear anywhere in the product's pages or docs.

AutoBacklinks runs six scan types, and the agent runs them rather than handing you a query builder:

  1. Competitor backlink scans that classify each link type
  2. ChatGPT source scans that find the pages AI answers actually cite
  3. Guest post scans with AI-suggested keywords
  4. Link insertion scans over live articles
  5. Product review scans for blogs already covering your competitors
  6. Directory scans, marked free or paid

Fresh scans each run, not a stored index. The prospect pool is as current as the scan.

Linkee's AI Website Qualifier vs AutoBacklinks relevance scoring

Credit where it is due: Linkee bundles its SEO data. Domain Rating and organic traffic come from an Ahrefs-sourced integration and are paid from the same Linkee credits as everything else. No second subscription.

That matters. Pitchbox needs your own Ahrefs, Semrush, or Majestic account for the same data, and BuzzStream bills its DR column to your own Ahrefs plan. Linkee got this one right, and it is the same model AutoBacklinks uses.

The vetting layer is Linkee's strongest pitch:

  • An AI Website Qualifier scores each prospect's relevancy from 0 to 100 against your keywords
  • Sites get categorized by type and niche
  • Spam score and security filters
  • PBN and broken-link removal

The claim is that this saves up to 90% of vetting time. The one substantive hands-on test I found (published February 2025 by Ranking Raccoon, itself an adjacent link-building platform, so weigh that) liked the idea more than the execution: an unclear relevancy-score methodology, and result lists that mixed link types and industries.

One vocabulary note from Linkee's own FAQ: it promises "Organic Traffic, Domain Rating, and Domain Authority." That mixes Ahrefs' metric and Moz's in one breath.

AutoBacklinks scores relevance too, and shows its reasoning per site: what the site covers, why it fits or does not. You audit the judgment instead of trusting a number. High DR does not rescue an irrelevant site, which is the property that actually moves reply rates. Metrics cost 0.5 credits per site, a published rate.

On contacts, both tools find and verify emails:

  • Linkee scrapes names, companies, and job titles, verifies addresses, and adds lookups through built-in integrations. No accuracy number is published. Neither is the per-email credit cost.
  • AutoBacklinks charges a flat 3 credits per verified contact and runs the lookup after qualification, so you only pay for contacts at sites that already passed your filters.

Does Linkee write outreach emails with AI? Templates on the page, AI in the headline

Here is where the two products separate most.

Linkee's homepage headline promises "AI email creation and follow-ups." Its outreach page, the one that shows the actual mechanics, says something humbler:

"Use Linkees tested email templates to avoid spam filters."

Those templates are personalized with merge fields: first name, last name, company, URL, plus custom fields you fill in. The archived help center lists an AI email writing feature and A/B testing. Put it all together and the honest description is templates, with AI assistance available. Not per-prospect drafting as the default mode.

Why does the distinction matter? Because merge-field email is the format editors have learned to delete on sight. And the most consistent criticism of Linkee across every source I checked (G2 review snippets, AppSumo reviews, even the affiliate blogs promoting its lifetime deal) is the same one: the AI-generated messages read generic and need manual rework before sending.

AutoBacklinks does not start from a template:

  • You give the campaign a goal and an approach: your own pitch in plain words, or a preset like paid placement, backlink exchange, free access, or affiliate offer.
  • The agent writes each first touch and its follow-ups from that prospect's own page: what the site covers, which article the pitch references, why the ask fits.
  • Every email step costs 1 credit.

In our published campaign, that page-level angle put 187 emails out and brought 32 replies back. A 17.1% reply rate. The lever was not clever copy. It was that every email was about the prospect's actual page.

Email warmup: AutoBacklinks includes it, Linkee has none

Search Linkee's site for the word warmup. You will not find it. Not on the outreach page, not on the pricing page, not in any article of its archived help center.

Linkee's deliverability story is scheduling and hygiene:

  • Sends spaced out over time, "like a real person"
  • Volume distributed across multiple connected mailboxes
  • Blacklisted addresses cleaned from your lists
  • Unsubscribes handled automatically

All useful. None of it builds sender reputation. A fresh outreach mailbox starts cold, and its reputation stays your problem.

AutoBacklinks connects Gmail, Google Workspace, or any SMTP provider, paces sends to your mailbox's daily limit, and includes warmup free on every mailbox: it holds real conversations so your domain builds reputation before and during outreach. You can switch it off per mailbox.

Linkee reply handling vs the AutoBacklinks opportunities board

Linkee's automation ends at the send.

Follow-up sequences are automated, and fairly priced: follow-ups cost no extra credits. After that, the product's job is measurement. The reporting dashboard tracks open, click, reply, and bounce rates per campaign, and lets you pause and re-run. Pro adds a CRM, though the site does not document what it contains.

The replies themselves land in your inbox. Reading, judging, negotiating, tracking: all yours. There is no reply analysis, no pipeline view of offers, and no monitoring of the links you win.

AutoBacklinks treats the reply as the start of the valuable part. The AI Reply Analyzer reads each publisher reply and extracts the entire offer: every price, placement type, content requirement, and payment term. Positive replies land on a kanban opportunities board with terms already structured:

AutoBacklinks opportunities board
Every card is a positive reply with Domain Rating and price extracted.

And before you pay anyone, the backlink valuation tool scores an offer against the site's authority, traffic, and placement terms, returning a fair-value range and a recommended maximum (10 credits per evaluation).

What a month of link building automation costs: Linkee vs AutoBacklinks

Linkee and AutoBacklinks credit rates
One tool publishes its per-action rates. One does not.

On paper the two entry plans nearly touch: $80.83 against $79. Linkee Essential on annual billing, AutoBacklinks Starter on monthly. The comparison underneath is less even.

Linkee's $97 monthly (or $970/yr) buys 10,000 credits. Using the founder's AppSumo numbers, that is up to 2,000 database prospects, if prospecting were all you did.

But emails also draw credits. Contact lookups draw credits. SEO checks draw credits. And none of those rates is published, so the honest answer to "what does a full campaign cost on Linkee?" is: run the trial and watch the meter.

AutoBacklinks Starter is $79/mo with every rate on the pricing page:

  • 1 credit per prospect found
  • 0.5 per site for DR and organic traffic
  • 3 per verified email
  • 1 per AI email step
  • 10 per backlink valuation

A typical month, from finding 500 prospects to drafting sequences for the ~150 that survive filtering and contact lookup, runs about 1,500 of the 2,500 credits. You can do that arithmetic before the trial starts. The plan covers 2 websites with warmup and roughly 1,500 outreach emails included; the trial is 7 days and 120 credits (card required), and a year is $869 on annual billing.

Both tools, to their shared credit, cost a fraction of the platforms of the previous era. The Pitchbox year-one floor is $2,520 on a mandatory one-year commitment, and BuzzStream's automation tier is $174/mo plus your own Ahrefs subscription.

AutoBacklinks or Linkee: which should you pick?

Choose AutoBacklinks if:

  • You want the work done, not organized: the agent finds, qualifies, gets contacts, drafts, sends, and pre-reads the replies, stopping where you want approval.
  • You want emails written from each prospect's page instead of a template with four merge fields. The 17.1% reply rate in our published campaign came from that difference.
  • You care about deliverability: warmup is included free on every mailbox, and Linkee has no warmup at all.
  • You want campaigns that recur on a schedule, more than one website on the entry plan, and pricing you can compute before you pay.

When does Linkee still make sense?

  • You bought an AppSumo lifetime tier. A one-time $69 to $279 is a different conversation from $97/mo, and if the workflow does what you need, sunk cost is on your side.
  • You want to evaluate this category without entering a card anywhere. Linkee's 14-day, 500-credit trial is genuinely open, and everything in this article is checkable inside it.

Even then, go in knowing what you are operating: a step-by-step toolkit where you drive each stage, sending from templates without warmup, campaigns that do not recur, replies that are entirely yours to handle, and a credit meter whose rates you learn by watching it.

The wider field, eight tools tested against live sites, is in my AI link building tools roundup. If you want to see an agent run a campaign on your own site, start the free trial and give it a goal.

FAQ

Is Linkee AI worth it in 2026?

Linkee is one of the cheaper ways to get discovery, AI vetting, contact finding, and outreach in one tool, and its 14-day no-card trial makes it easy to judge yourself. Its limits are structural: you drive each step by hand, emails run from templates, there is no warmup, campaigns do not recur, and per-action credit costs are not published. An agent tool like AutoBacklinks does the operating for you at a similar price, $79/mo.

Is Linkee AI legit?

Linkee is a real product from Linkee Inc., sold since 2024, with a working trial and a founder who answers buyers publicly. It is also a product whose maintained surfaces lag its marketing: the help center subdomain no longer resolves, the pricing page carries three different mailbox counts for one plan, the homepage claims both a 12-million and a 5-million-site database, and its review base is 18 AppSumo reviews plus a handful on G2. Use the free trial and verify against your own campaign.

How much does Linkee AI cost?

Essential is $97/mo billed monthly or $80.83/mo billed yearly, with 10,000 credits and one project. Pro is $197/mo or $164.17/mo yearly with 25,000 credits, still one project. Agency is $358/mo or $298.33/mo yearly with 60,000 credits and unlimited projects. Per-action credit costs are not published; the founder has stated on AppSumo that database prospects cost 5 credits each and CSV imports 2 per row. Fees are nonrefundable per its terms.

Does Linkee include Ahrefs data?

Yes. Linkee bundles Ahrefs-sourced metrics like Domain Rating and organic traffic, paid from your Linkee credits rather than a separate Ahrefs subscription, the same bundled model AutoBacklinks uses at a published 0.5 credits per site. This is a real advantage both tools share over Pitchbox and BuzzStream, which require your own SEO-tool account for equivalent data.

Does Linkee have email warmup?

No. Warmup does not appear anywhere on Linkee's site or in its archived documentation. Its deliverability features are send scheduling that spaces emails out, distribution across multiple connected mailboxes, blacklist cleanup, and automatic unsubscribe handling. AutoBacklinks includes warmup free on every connected mailbox and lets you switch it off per mailbox.

How much does AutoBacklinks cost compared to Linkee?

AutoBacklinks Starter is $79/mo with 2,500 credits, 2 websites, warmup, verified contacts, and AI drafting included, with every credit rate published; a year is $869 to $948. Linkee Essential is $97/mo (or $80.83/mo billed yearly, $970/yr) with 10,000 credits and 1 project, with per-action rates unpublished. The prices are close; the difference is who does the work and what you can price in advance.
